New Year’s Resolutions for the Go-Getter [Part 2]

Now for the second part of 2313 Inc.‘s list of awesome resolutions to make in the new year!

If you missed Part 1 you can read it here.

3. “In 2018, I will take every opportunity to express my appreciation to those around me.”

Verbally sharing and physically showing appreciation are natural next steps to feeling gratitude internally (#2 on our list).

We stumbled upon a pretty awesome quote on Twitter recently:

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” -William Arthur Ward

It’s easy to assume that the people around us know that we appreciate them — and in most cases, they probably do. But, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make them feel good to hear you express it.

There isn’t a person on earth who doesn’t feel a spark of joy when given a genuine compliment or when recognized for their hard work. So why not share the love? Who knows, it might be great for your own life and career.

Perhaps 2018 will be the year in which you go out of your way to verbalize your gratitude to those whom you appreciate.

4. “In 2018, I will plan my week in advance, every single week.”

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you’re just flying by the seat of your pants, rushing around to get things done, jotting down reminders in random places, and just feeling utterly overwhelmed? We all have.

The problem with those disorganized weeks is that not only do you feel terrible, but your productivity isn’t optimal either.

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” -Benjamin Franklin

In this new year, make it your mission to avoid being disheveled at all costs. The most effective way to do this is to make it a top priority to always plan out your week — before the new week begins.

Many people like to do this on Sunday, but it doesn’t necessarily matter which day you choose. What is most important is that you take the time to think through the priorities of the week, and to organize your time accordingly.

Make 2018 the year you plan and prioritize.

New Year’s Resolutions for the Go-Getter [Part 1]

With a brand new year beginning in less than 2 weeks, all of us at 2313 Inc. (Farmington Hills, MI) are fine-tuning our resolutions for 2018. With this fresh set of 365 days comes the hope of happiness, success, and abundance; and we don’t know about you, but we’ve got some pretty big goals in mind at 2313 Inc.

If you could use some help putting together your own objectives for the year ahead, we’ve compiled a list of New Year’s resolutions worth committing to:

1. “In 2018, I will wake up 1 hour earlier every day.”

Ponder this one for a second: waking up an hour earlier every day will give you an extra 365 hours in your life to get things done. That’s 15 days! Whoa.

Imagine how much progress you could make on anything with all of that extra time.

Perhaps you’ll use your mornings to start a new workout routine before heading to the office. Or, maybe you’ll use the extra hour to read the news and become a more informed citizen. How about listening to a podcast or audiobook that will help you in your career? The possibilities are endless! Choose one or two things and commit.

So, instead of staying up late binging on season 2 of Stranger Things, exercise that self-discipline muscle and head to sleep so you can wake up 1 hour ahead of schedule!

2. “In 2018, I will take a moment each day to reflect about what I am grateful for.”

A big element of acquiring (and maintaining) the inner peace necessary to tackle challenging goals is feeling grateful for what you already have.

If you aren’t already in the habit of doing so, perhaps 2018 will be the year in which you take a moment each day to think about what you are thankful for in your life. This is an extremely useful tool for managing stress, overcoming obstacles, and grounding yourself when you’re feeling frustrated. When you remind yourself of how fortunate you are, you are likely to feel optimistic and energized.

Keep challenging yourself and keep wanting more — but be grateful for what you already have and the journey that you’re on.

3 Habits That Strong Leaders Swear By

If you know anything about 2313 Inc. (Farmington Hills, MI), you know that our team is full of remarkable leaders. But as any of them will tell you, being a great leader is no easy task. It’s a skill that takes constant hard work and a whole lot of good habits. They will also tell you that they didn’t become the leaders that they are today without learning a few of those practices from other phenomenal leaders. We gathered a list of 3 of the most valuable habits that our own exceptional leaders swear by to help you become the best leader that you can be.

Three exemplary leaders whom we’re proud to work with!

1) Always be early

Making a habit of being early for presentations, meetings, and especially work gives you a little extra time to prepare. What questions do you want to ask after a presentation? What ideas do you want to contribute during a meeting? What are the most important tasks that you need to accomplish for that day? If you’re leading the meeting or presentation, what items do you want to spend a little extra time discussing? Having a few more minutes to think over and answer these kinds of questions will ensure that you’re ready for anything. When you’re in a position of authority, it’s crucial to be prepared and to set a good example for your team. As the team leaders of 2313 Inc. will attest to, if you start putting in the extra effort to arrive early, they probably will too!

2) Consistently produce quality work

Actions really do speak louder than words. At 2313 Inc. we believe that it’s unfair and unrealistic to expect your team to always work hard and deliver excellent work if you’re a lazy leader. The single most effective way to motivate your team to do their very best is to make sure that you are doing yours. As with all of these habits, your team will behave in the same manner that you do, so lead by example!

3) Facilitate communication

Healthy communication is at the core of every successful relationship. Being a great leader is no different. Make sure that every member of your team knows that they can come talk to you about anything and that you will be completely transparent with them in return. Invest your time in building strong relationships with the people you lead, because your team is more likely to follow you if they respect you.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to start practicing these positive habits. Becoming a good leader takes time, so start as soon as possible!
